The sweet sixteen favors…

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009

I was planning a birthday party for my daughter, who was turning sixteen and needed some suggestions. A friend of mine said she went online and found a lot of accessories and party favors for her daughters party. So I decided to give it a try. I was really surprised at what super favors and table decorations they had. I found a lot of nice stuff I can use for her party. There were cookie cutters I used to make cookies in the shape of the number 16 for her guests.

Before making any plans, I got her opinion on what she wanted for her party, and it was a party at the roller rink with all the girls sleeping over. So I made the arrangements, and reserved tables with the roller rink in our neighborhood. Then I invited all of her best girl friends. It didn’t cost as much as I thought it would. Refreshments, pizza and hot dogs were also part of the package, and didn’t cost very much at all. I got the house prepared for the party that was to continue after skating. I put out the cookies I had made, along with a few other snacks, and set up birthday decorations.

I ordered more than the cookie cutters when I went shopping online. Since I saved money on the roller rink deal, I decided it would be nice to get the girls a few sweet sixteen favors. I found pink photo albums for the girls and gave each of them a disposable camera for party pictures. Everyone got a camera before we went to the roller rink party, but no one got an album until later that evening. I’m glad they only took a few pictures at the skating rink, so they would be able to take pictures of the sleepover too.

One of the favors was a cosmetic bag that had each girls initial on the front button. The cosmetic bags were just the beginning, I also bought manicure sets and purse mirrors for each of the girls. Each of the girls also received a very decorative favor box filled with candies. At home, her sweet sixteen party favor and presents awaited, and we took care of that as soon as we got there. There were plenty of snacks and drinks, girlie teen movies for them to watch, so they were good to go for the evening. After they got tired of dancing to their favorite tunes, they decided to give make overs and manicures to each other. From all the noise and laughing you knew they were having the time of their lives.

After they tired themselves out, they decided to put on a movie and grab the popcorn. I tried to stay out of their way as much as possible and just let them have a good time, but they asked me if I wanted to watch a movie with them. That was such a nice thing to ask me to join them. They were able to watch two of the movies we rented before eyes started closing. Now it was down to just me and my daughter and she didn’t make it very long. Just before she closed her eyes, she let me know how much she appreciated her super birthday party.

They ate breakfast and cleaned up everything left from the birthday party before I even got out of bed. It was really sweet of the girls to do that. Most of the girls went home after a couple hours of hanging out with my daughter. Each of the girls said they had a great time at the party and they loved the favors for sweet sixteen I got them. I like that my daughter and her friends now consider me to be a cool mom.
